Today is July 8th, former Japanese Prime Minister Abe was assassinated; yesterday was the 85th anniversary of the Marco Polo Bridge Incident.
The Marco Polo Bridge Incident, also known as the Lugou Bridge Incident, occurred on July 7, 1937. On that night, the Japanese garrison at the Marco Polo Bridge conducted a so-called military exercise near the Chinese garrison positions without notifying the local Chinese authorities, and falsely claimed that a Japanese soldier was missing, demanding to enter the city of Wanping (now Lugouqiao Town) southwest of Beijing for a search, which was firmly rejected by the Chinese garrison. The Japanese army then launched an attack on Wanping City and the Marco Polo Bridge. The 219th Regiment of the 37th Division of the 29th Army of the Chinese garrison fought back fiercely. The "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" marked the beginning of the nationwide War of Resistance Against Japan.
I arrived in Luzhou yesterday and just remembered that I hadn't written the June summary. Fortunately, it was only delayed by a week, and my impression of June is still quite vivid. Compared to June last year, my studies have improved a bit; at least I didn't fail any courses (yes, I didn't fail Engineering Graphics either 😏), and my score in quantum mechanics reached 98 points, possibly because the questions were relatively easy. I brought back "Snow Country" again, hoping to finish it this time. The weather (temperature) is still as hot as ever, even hotter than before; it's really tough without air conditioning ♨️.
Regarding the CuBiC project, I initially thought it would be finished in June, but it unexpectedly dragged on until July 10th. The machine still cannot complete a full Rubik's Cube restoration, so I naturally don't have high expectations for the competition results.
Overall, June was indeed busy, preparing for final exams, working on the robotics project, moving dorms... I expect July will also be busy, with organizational meetings and cognitive internships, but it should be a bit better than last year's social practice. The final results of the CuBiC project will be revealed in the next issue; that's all for this issue, 886👋.
