It is now the evening of February 16, 2024, and I have finally started working on the January summary. A few months ago, I envisioned "writing the monthly summary at the beginning of the month," with the original intention of retaining timeliness as much as possible. However, the January summary for the new year has not been realized, not due to forgetfulness, but rather because I was busy returning home for the holidays, celebrating the Spring Festival, and enjoying my trip to Guangdong. Therefore, only after all these matters were completed did I find this fragmented time to write the summary. But I also know this passage may serve as a rebuttal; it is undeniable that reflection is necessary.
Rewinding to the beginning of January, I ended a happy five days with Bao in City J and returned to Wuhan, where I was overwhelmed with the ALD project for my research group. However, this lasted only about ten days. On January 17, I began plotting my return home, finally persuading my boss with the excuse of "having bought the ticket in advance," thus obtaining a "home permit." On the 18th, I transferred in Chongqing, where I strolled around Jiefangbei and Chaotianmen with my old friend Miko, enjoyed hot pot, and visited a comic exhibition, spending a few leisurely days. By the 21st, I returned home, having completely cast aside matters related to the project or my thesis.
The following days were filled with the traditional activities of recent years, namely rekindling friendships with old friends from high school and middle school, visiting my high school teachers. Specifically, this involved various dining activities, drinking events, and shopping outings, which were largely no different from previous years. However, the most grand occasion was a meal with many classmates and teachers, where I was once again recommended as the spokesperson for the banquet due to my role as the former class monitor. Thus, I discovered once more that my public speaking skills were lacking, and coupled with my inability to understand the unique and complex "banquet culture," it seemed quite challenging to perform well in such group conversations, after which I quietly focused on eating.
As the end of the month approached, I learned that I would be going to City Y with my younger brother, with a transfer in City G. My thoughts were on Bao, who happened to be in City G. I thought this was a perfect opportunity to visit Bao, so I discussed the possibility of meeting with Bao, and finally, there seemed to be a successful prospect for our first meeting. The date for going to City G was set for February 4. Before that, I bought my ticket and prepared my plans, just waiting for the right moment to set off. As for why I was going, whether I successfully met Bao afterward, and what happened next, it is now February, so please see the next summary for details. 🤫
